Legal Question in Traffic Law in Pennsylvania

out of state speeding ticket

I am a VA resident and received a speeding ticket in PA. I was going 75 in a 55 zone. The officer said to pay the ticket because it would not show up on my VA record or to my insurance company. Is this right? I don't mind paying the $155 ticket it but if it shows up on my record, I'll fight it.

Thank you.

Re: out of state speeding ticket

Both Pa and Va are members of the Interstate Compact for drivers licensing, as such, the conviction in Pa would be reflected on your Va driving record and would be reportable to your insurance company. It is my experience that as long as you treated the police officer with proper respect you should be able, with an attorney, to reduce the ticket to five miles over the limit which carries no points. I offer free consultations.
