Legal Question in Traffic Law in Pennsylvania

I was ticketed upon exiting a school zone when the flashing lights were still on (50 minutes after school was dismissed), after I had been sitting on the school parking lot for 45 minutes. I entered the school driving the 15 mile per hour speed zone, but didn't know that the lights were still on when I left.

The lights are not visable at all from the exit (one of only two exits to the school campus), nor are there any signs with the posted school zone hours.

I was already found guilty and will file an appeal as the Judge's argument was solely that I should have assumed that the lights were still on, since they were when I entered. I asked if the reverse was true, if they were off when I entered, should I assume that they were still off when I left.

That's when he ruled aganst me but wished me luck and hoped that I can fight Penn Dot and get better signage for the schools.
