Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Pennsylvania
I am looking for an attorney. My brother and I inherited my mother's home...both are names are on the house. I want to sell the house. My brother wants to rent it. Causing big problems.
If I don't want to be in the renting business, doesn't he have to buy me out?
Thank you very much.

Simple solution - have the property appraised (decide on one appraiser or you each pick your own and have the two appraisers select a third and you and your brother split the costs for that; average the three appraisals together to arrive at a number) and have your brother buy out your half of the equity in the home. If he refuses, see a real estate litigation attorney and bring what is called a partition action. If you and he cannot agree, the court will order the land to be sold and the money split between you.
I agree with what the previous attorney stated. I suggest you move fast on this because if you can't agree you will both incur numerous expenses for the home, ie taxes, insurance, repairs and if you do not cooperate in paying each of your share of the costs this can lead to further issues.
