Re: Estate

If the houses were jointly owned by your mother and father as tenants by the entireties (when owners are husband and wife) or as joint tenants with right of survivorship (when owners are not husband and wife), then the property automatically became your mother's property at the moment when your father died. There is nothing to inherit from your father. Your mother has the right to dispose of the properties as she pleases, including selling them and keeping the proceeds.

If the joint ownership was of a different kind, you might have had a right to inherit a portion of your father's estate under intestacy law, however, if 25 years have passed, you have probably missed your opportunity to claim an interest in the estate, unless you were incapacitated during that time.
