Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Pennsylvania

Executor not accounting for funds

It has been nine years since my mother died, and the estate has not be settled. Wait, it gets better. In those nine years, my sister, the executrix, has kept very little/poor records, and has never given the beneficiaries a report or accounting of the income or expenses. She has even written checks and deposited money into her personal account (for a period of three years!). The estate will soon be settled. What financial disclosure should I expect at settlement? She has not hired an attorney. She says she will do it herself. What kind of accounting must she provide to the heirs? Should I ''demand'' to see a financial record or just keep peace in the family. The grandchildren were supposed to split any money remaining after her three daughters received a specified amount. I feel that she has mismanaged money and now the grandchildren will not get anything.

Re: Executor not accounting for funds

It definetely sounds like you need to speak with an attorney. The executrix must keep detailed records. Your sister also should have kept separate bank records.

If it has been 9 years there is probably going to be alot of information missing, unless you move quickly you may not have much to look for.
