Can my father gift me a gun that he put in his will for someone else.

I agree with Attorney Davidson. If your father is alive and has made dispositions in his will, these dispositions are not binding. Your father is free to revoke the old will in part or in its entirety. Him disposing of assets while he was alive does just that. it revokes the bequest in the will. So if the will says your father's 30-caliber shot gun goes to x and they your father decides to give or sell it to you, makes delivery of the gun then dies, x has no claim on the gun.

Of course, since your father is transferring a firearm, he needs to make sure there are no other provisions that apply under the PA Uniform Firearms Act and that all other transfer requirements are met.
