My father names his wife benfactor of his pension, she dies in Sept. 2010, he dies in March, 2011 without changing his beneficiary. What happens to his pension?

If there was no contingent beneficiary, then the pension might be paid to your father's estate for distribution to the heirs named in his will or intestate heirs.
