Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Pennsylvania

father's estate

My father recently died in Pennsylvania. He was unmarrien and my sister and I are his only children. We had been estranged for the past few years. Is it posssible to find out if he had a will and is it public domain?

Thank you,

Re: father's estate

If you know the county he died in you could check with the Register of Wills to see if a Will is being offered for Probate. If no Will is brought forward you can petition the court to probate the estate without a will and appoint a personal representative to administer the estate. Of course if a will does show up, and it is valid, it will take precedence over the personal representative without the will.

Let me know if I can be of any further assistance to you.
