Will the executor of my aunts will have to produce actual bank statements; verfying what funds were in her account at the time of death?

Simply put yes. In Pennsylvania we still have an inheritance tax. The amount of Inheritance Tax owed is based on the Date of Death value of each asset. Therefore, in order to properly file the Inheritance Tax Return the date of death value of each account will need to be produced. The actual bank statements will not be necessary if a letter stating the date of death value is received from the bank.
