my grandfather is passing and me and my sister are next of kin a family friend says she is his adopted daughter because they has been like father daughter for 50 yrs and says she has letters that he wrote love dad on so its proof she is considered his daughter and has rights is this true?

No. Unless there's an adoption she's just a good friend. Her proof would be an updated birth certificate and adoption papers.
