Who Gets Grandma?

My father died last month, and left everything to my grandma and made his best friend the executor. At the time, grandma was very adamant that she would not be put in a nursing home and wanted to live with me & my family. Tonight I hear through the neighbor that's been taking care of her, that grandma wishes NOT to leave the state of PA, even if that means a nursing home. I guess grandma went to the lawyer's without me knowing this past week, and made a will that will be finalized this week. (a secret will?) She told the laywer all of this and now she signed ''something'' but can't tell me what. I think she's been taken advantage of since I live 3 hrs away. I didn't even know this meeting was taking place! Do I have any rights? If I go to get her anyway, is this kidnapping? She's 90 yrs old, so what can I do??? I think I need a lawyer myself! This could carry on forever, right?

Re: Who Gets Grandma?

There is a good chance that your grandmother is being unduly influenced and a victim of elder abuse. You can contact the Jobs and Family Services office of her county and report the situation. You can also contact a lawyer that specializes in elder law that can look into this situation. If she chooses to live with you and you agree, that is not kidnapping. I suggest first trying to get a handle on the situation.
