Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Pennsylvania

A great Aunt left unclaimed stocks from 1968 in Phila, PA. The admin of her estate is dead. I'm told I need a short certificate to get the funds released from the state. Is it possible to be a 2nd executrix?

Yes of course. It original personal representative is unable or unwilling to serve for any reason, then anyone else can serve. After this much time are you sure that you have to go through probate? The stocks should have escheated to the state treasurer by now. I would re-open the estate, get appointed, get the stocks, pay whatever taxes are owed and distribute what is left to your aunt's beneficiaries. I think you might want to at least consult with a probate attorney who practices in the county where the estate for your aunt is pending so you can get the correct procedure.
