Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Pennsylvania
My husband and I bought our first house a little less than a year ago. When we had the home inspection the central AC unit wasn't installed, so it was in the our contract for the sellers to put it in. After the first month the AC started tripping the breaker. We had an electrician come look and he found that the wires and the breaker used on the AC were incorrect and illegal. We had him rewire and changed the breaker (costing us $250) but the AC still didn't work, so we called a heating and AC company to come look at it, and they told us the compressor was broken because of the wrong wiring. ( This would cost another $600 to fix) My question is, is this our responsibility to fix or the responsibility of the seller, since it was done illegally the first time?
The AC unit is only 10 months old.

Talk to a real estate litigation attorney. If things were not disclosed to you and the defects should have been disclosed, you may have a cause of action against the seller. The question will be, who fixed the AC unit and did the seller know the repairs were illegal? You only have 5 years to sue from the date of any alleged violation.
