Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Pennsylvania

Inheritance?

My husband and I have been married for 35 years and still are.

His parents have written up the will for all the money, assets, etc to go to him alone. Do I have any rights to any of the money, assets, etc. ? We are still married and plan to stay married.

Re: Inheritance?

You have no inheritance rights to your in-laws' estates. Once they have died, your husband will inherit according to the will they have at that time. He should also make a will directing how his estate will pass. If you survive him, you will have the right to make a claim against his estate, even if his will does not leave you anything.

All people should have not only a will, but also advance health care directives [also known as living wills], durable health care power of attorney appointing someone to carry out their health care directives, and a durable general power of attorney, appointing someone to take care of their assets if they become unable to.

Estates and Elder lawyers are able to assist with counseling you about your needs and preparing these documents.
