Is it legal for a probation officer to go your place of employment when you are not there, introduce himself as your P.O. and then tell them what your offense was?

This is NOT a question concerning the probate of an estate or a trust or will. You need to direct your question to a criminal law attorney.

Generally, criminal offenses are a matter of public record so the probation officer would not be disclosing private information. And a probation officer can certainly check up on a probationer - I am not aware of any restrictions in this regard. However, you need to consul a criminal law attorney. More information is needed - I don't think the probation officer simply dropped on by and told the employer about the criminal offense. The officer had a reason for being there.
