Length of time to register a will

Hi, I'm the executor of my friends will and sole heir to her modest estate. My friend passes away on 05/17/2007. The attorney she had chosen has still not registered her will as of 08/22/2007. How long do we have to register the will and how can I get the attorney to move on this?

You get to choose the attorney. You typically not bound by your friends choice.

If you are not happy with the current attorney's performance, call and/or write the attorney and let them know they are dismissed and hire a new attorney to help.
