How long does an executor have to let heirs know about the will?
My brother is the executor of my mothers will. She passed away 11/26/06. He says he is not probating the will and is not going to tell my brothers or myself anything about the will or give anything out for at least a year. What can I do to see the will? I am one of the heirs listed. Thank you.

You can force him to probate the will by filing the appropriate petition to open an estate. I would not wait long as there are certain time frames regarding taxes and other matters. The matter would have to be started in the county where your father lived at the time of his death. If this is anywhere near Bucks County( not far from Philadelphia) where my office is located you can contact me for further information. In any event you and your siblings should act fast and contact a lawyer.
