Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Pennsylvania

My mother passed and left the house to me in the will. She left 30,000 dollars worth of debt. Am I liable for this debt? Can I file bankruptcy and that pay off the debt and than still keep the house?

The good news is you don't inherit debt. So you aren't responsible for any of the $30,000. That said her estate is. Depending on who the debt is owed to they might write it off. Or they could come after the estate which has an asset, namely the house. Without knowing more I can't say which they will do.
