Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Pennsylvania

Ownership

As a result of my mother's death, her will stated that all her assets be shared equally between my sister and myself. My sister contends that means everything, I disagree. My mother's life insurance has my sister as the primary beneficiary, and me as the contingent. I say the money is hers only. Likewise, at the time of death, my mothers name and mine were on her checking account. I say that money is mine alone. There are a few bank certificates of deposit with both my mother and my name on them, I think the money is mine only. My mother had other financial assest with her name alone, those would be shared equally. I would appreciate some legal clarification on those issues. Thank you.

Re: Ownership

These are all good issues. The idea behind a will is to follow the intent of the testator. I cannot answer all of your questions unless I review the will. If you would like to discuss the details of this please contact my office in Pittsburgh.
