Property appraisal after death

My grandmother recently died and we are in the process of emptying out the house. Is it necessary to get a lawyer to handle the estate before we have the house appraised or can any appraisal company come out and do an appraisal before we proceed with dividing up the assets?

Re: Property appraisal after death

The probate process is often difficult and it would be advisible to have an attorney represent the executor. For example, the appraisal is to be done by an appointee of the court. Call me directly for assistance at 1.619.222.3504.
