Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Pennsylvania
I purchased two copies of my late father's birth certificate because we were unable to find the original. I received both copies the other day and the date of birth was incorrect. I called the vital records that sent me the copies and told them the birth date was wrong it should be February 19, 1924 NOT February 18, 1924, The woman told me I need to get a lawyer to have this corrected. Is that true and how much would something like this cost? Thanks so much, Kathy

A petition to amend the certificate must be filed. Contact several attorneys in your area and inquire as to the cost; rates may vary. It should not be terribly expensive.
