Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Pennsylvania
A relative passed away two years ago. She left a Safety Deposit Box and a Will. I gave the Safety Deposit Box KEY to the Attorney - as they wee the only one to have access. I called numerous times to follow-up and the NEVER returned my call.
I even went to the office of this estate attorney and they NEVER called me back.
Neither did the executor (some bank lady) that was getting money from my relative.
What responsibility does the attorney for the estate have (this person is NOT a relative).....to inform the FAMILY what was in the Safety Deposit Box and WILL?
I'm concerned there may be family heirlooms, pictures, etc. that we are not being given.
Thank you!
(this is in the state of Pennsylvania)

Depending on the degree of relationship between you and the relative, you should have received official notice of the estate administration and been kept informed of its status.
If the executor and the estates lawyer had no personal relationship with the deceased, there is a possibility that they influenced the relative into leaving the estate to them.
Consult with an experienced estates lawyer in the county where the relative resided to find out if you have any rights and how to claim them.
This response is not legal advice, since I do not have all of the information that would be required, and I do not have a representation agreement with you.
* If the answers to your question confirm that you have a valid issue or worthwhile claim, your next step should almost always be to establish a dialog with a lawyer who can provide specific advice to you. Contact a lawyer in your county or township.
* Another reason for contacting a lawyer is that it is often impossible to give a good answer in the Internet Q&A format without having more information. The unique circumstances of your situation and things that you may not have thought to mention in your question may completely change the answer. If you want to be sure that you have a complete answer to your question and an understanding of what that answer means, establish a connection with a lawyer who practices in the area of your concern.
