Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Pennsylvania

Settling mothers estate; one sibling is purchasing mothers home; $15,000 in cash was given to lawyer for down payment; have receipt; lawyer took $15,000 to bank to deposit 2 hrs later, $4,000 was missing. Police are involved. Bank Tellers are in the clear. The 2 family members that took the money to lawyer, as well as several people from the law office, including the lawyer, are currently being fingerprinted and polygraphed. Should we continue to settle the estate w/this law office or start over w/a new lawyer? We already know b/c we have receipt, the law office is responsible for the $4,000. Thank you very much.

Something is fishy here. Are you sure the lawyer personally took the money or did he let his assistant do it?

I would be more inclined to think it was a member of his staff but there are bad lawyers out there.

My advice would be to go elsewhere regardless of whether it is the lawyer or his staff. Get the money and go somewhere else.
