template for keeping track of expenses
I am the administrator of my uncle's estate. He died without a will. Do you know of a Microsoft template that would be helpful to me in keeping track of monies entered in and expenses paid out of the estate account?

I don't know of such a template. Why not just use the checkbook register for the Estate bank account, and keep a file with all bills and receipts? If you keep the bills and receipts in chronological or alphabetical order and mark on them the check number with which you paid, you will be able to track the money received and paid.
If you are working with an accountant or lawyer, they probably could advise you.

Depending on the amount of work you want to do, either of the alternatives suggested by Miriam or Nancy would be sufficient. If there is the possibility that the estate would go on for a while, and particularly if there are significant asset values, you might want to consult with an accountant. When the estate is large and does not close for a good deal of time, an accountant can be a great help to you in preparing reports for the court and income tax returns for the state and Federal governments. People often don't realize that a final income tax return has to be submitted for your decedent, and that your uncle's estate may have to file income tax returns as well. If you haven't retained an attorney to help you settle the estate, you might consider interviewing attorneys for one who can give you estate settlement advice and provide the report's and income tax returns just mentioned.

Microsoft Money would work, as would Quicken.
