Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Pennsylvania

Will not Contest my late husbands will

My husband died a few months ago. The house was left to my step son. I am ok with this but he wants me to sign a document stating that I will not contest it. I feel like I'm not trusted. I have no intention of contesting it. I'm fearful of signing a legal document and being tricked.

Re: Will not Contest my late husbands will

The will should be probated [filed] with the Register of Wills' office, and the estate administered. The will should have named an Executor/Executrix, and that person is responsible for administering the estate.

If nothing was left to you, and the house is the only asset in the estate, you would have an interest in the house. If the house was titled in both your husband's and your names, depending on how that was stated, you may automatically have sole ownership of it now, and the house could not be "left" to anyone else.

You really need to consult with your own estates lawyer to make sure that you receive what you are entitled to.
