Legal Question in Workers Comp in Pennsylvania
deductions from settlement
I have received 2 bi-weekly checks since the hearing asking the judge to approve the compromise and release aggreement. are they being deducted from my settlement as my attorney says? in the decision of the judge it says that the defendants, upon payment of specified moneys are relieved of any further liability.

Re: deductions from settlement
It depends. Most insurance companies continue to pay your biweekly checks until the judge's actual decision is circulated. Under any circumstances, once the actual decision is filed, you should get your settlement check very quickly. The law requires that it be paid within 30 days of the decision.
