Job offer while on w/c
I am hoping to be discharged from a w/c injury by the beginning of September. I have been looking into a position with another company. How long do I have to work at my present employment without any w/c problems? Will my present employer's w/c carrier still be responsible for payment for my physical therapy which will continue for a while after being released for full work duty?

Re: Job offer while on w/c
If you take another job the WC insurer who is now paying remains obligated to continue paying for any medical bills for treatment related to your injury. Also, if your new job pays less than your pre-injury job, the WC insurer may have to pay 2/3 of your loss for a max of 500 weeks. I say "may" because the insurer may defend on the ground that you purposely took a less paying job & you could find a job that pays at least as much as your pre-injury job, or your old employer may offer the old job, or for some other reason. So there are no guarantees. If you do not have a lawyer, when you're about to start the new job I suggest you advise the WC insurer so they are aware. Good luck!!
