Legal Question in Workers Comp in Pennsylvania
Mileage Reimbursment
My company H.J. Heinz, is self-insured and it's claims are admimistered by Liberty Mutual Insurance Co. I have asked my employer if they will reimburse me for my mileage to and from therapy sessions and they claim to never have heard of such a practice. Pa. WK Helpline tells me it is up to the individual insurance Co. All attempts to find out from Liberty Mutual if they provide a mileage reimbursement allowance for where I work, a Co. in Pa owned by H.J. Heinz Co. have been fruitless. Can anyone get me the answer from LIBERTY MUTUAL?

Re: Mileage Reimbursment
I am assuming from your zip code that you are employed by Chef Francesco. I have represented several injured workers from the King of Prussia facility. Unfortunately, mileage reimbursement is only required when the medical provider is located more than 100 miles round trip. Even then, you must demonstarte that other providers in that specialty are not available closer to your home. Clearly that would not be the case with P.T. It is true that sometimes, carriers will voluntarily pay mileage reimbursement or provide transportation but it is the exception rather than the rule.
I highly recommend that you obtain counsel. There is no fee for my representation unless the insurance company challenges your right to benefits. Prior to that time, I can assist you in handling independent medical examinations, vocational rehabilitation and return to work issues. In addition, I act as a liason between you and the insurance company. All communication is filtered through my office so that you don't do or say anything that could inadvertently affect your case negatively. I am the contact for any issues with regard to late checks or unpaid medical bills. I also can provide you with information with regard to mail order prescription medication that requires no out-of-pocket expense.
Please contact my office so that we can further duiscuss your case. There is no cost and you will likely find that having representation is in your best interest.
