Legal Question in Workers Comp in Pennsylvania
Release of medical records and information?
I received a request for release of *all and any* medical records from a WC insurance company. I am in PA. This statement says: ''Please indicate the information of types of information to be disclosed: any and all medical records, including but not limited to, records, reports, memoranda, earning statements, x-rays, diagnostic study films, consultation reports, office notations, special study reports and films or billings.
Specify dates (or date ranges) if applicable: any and all''
Do I have to sign a release that requests medical information that is not related to my WC injuries and are not paid by WC insurance?
Do I maintain the right to privacy for information in my medical records that are not related to WC?
Can I be penalized for not signing release for information that is not related to my wc injuries and treatment?

Re: Release of medical records and information?
If you want the benefits you generally do have to give the insurance company authorization to view all of your medical records. It is because the insurance company is entitled to know if all of the injuries of which you complain are related to the work injury.
