Legal Question in Workers Comp in Pennsylvania
i was doing a roof for a friend and another friend was collecting unemployment at the time and needed extra money so he offered his services to help while on the job he fell from ladder broke some bones arrival at hospital was found to be under the influence of marijuana i received a claim petition for workers compensation but i don't own a company buisness nor do i have any insurance what does this mean

The first question is are you in the roofing business? If so, you are required by law to have Workers Compenstaion Insurance, and you should turn the case over to your WC Insurance company. If you're not in business, the question is whether or not an employer-employee relationship existed between you your injured friend. If this was a one time deal, you can probably claim that he was a "casual employee" and should not be covered by the WC laws. The fact that there was marijuana in his system might be a defense to his claim, but that is the least of your problems. You will have to attend the hearing in the case and should definitely hire a WC lawyer to represent you.
