Went to my family Dr. for allover pain he sent me for an emg, the emg found peripheral neuropathy and carpel tunnel syndrome. My doctor is sending me to an orthopedic surgeon for a consult. I have been working as a auto mechanic for 30 years. what should I do if the ortho surg says its work related, and is it ok to get the consult.

Re: will I be covered by workers comp

If you have CTS or a similar malady, you will probably be treated by conservative modalities including rest, rehab maybe medicine. After those are exhausted, a recommendation of surgery may be made.

you have an injury date of whenever you last worked unless you can recall some traumatic moment when the pain first appeared.

You will provice a history to the Ortho and that is how she will know it is work-related; in addition to being the type of repetitive-motion injury which an auto mechanic would encounter. wrenches, wockets, the turning all the time impacted the nerves inside your forearm.

It's important to treat with the unbiased doctor of your own choice as soon as you can. Contact a lawyer if you have any questions about having provided proper notice to your employer, etc.

Good Luck
