Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in Philippines

Hi, I and my friends are renting out an apartment and we had a heated arguement with our land lord. Without notice or whatsoever our apartment gate was locked from the outside yesterday evening, which we found out when we were all dressed up for work(we are on night shift). We were able to made out of the house because through the garage gate we kept locke from the inside. (This is to say that we all had no choice but to left the gates open because we all are going out to work). Morning came when we get the chance to meet with the land lord and to confront him of the reason of doing such. Our land lord was so heated and started babbling about the sanitation we had on the leased premises. Though we are amenable to this, I would like to ask if it is reason enough to have us locked indoors to bring our attention to the matter? we even argued that by locking us from the inside that he had compromise our safety incase of fire and he casually answered "I don't care".

Don't our landlord gone overboard with his rights? Is this ground enough to nullify our contratct to rent? And could this be favorable for us to get the security deposit of 2 months rent?

bring the matter to your barangay by filing a complaint against your landlord. Your landlord may have been pissed off with your unsanitary behavior.But you can initiate a complaint against your landlord before the barangay so things can be settled.
