Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in Philippines
My mother was a government employee and she just died recently, my father abandoned us when i was 8 yrs old now im already 35 years old, i got to know recently that my father married twice he left us sometime in 1983, he"s second marriage was in 1984, ten years after they got married with my mother which was on December of 1974 so it means his second marriage was null & void, in fact i have documents from NSO Philippines that he really did marry twice, now my question is why he still entiltled with all the claims of my mother when my late mother did not include him as her beneficiary, because he has abandoned us for such a long time? And can his rights as a husband to claims all the said benefits can be forfieted because of it? and can i file legal actions for his infidelity, in behalf of my late mother? Please help me, i really dont know where to turn to, thank you and god speed.

Better inquire with the GSIS regarding the benefits. Yes, you can file a case for bigamy against your father provided prescription did not set in (meaning the number of years that he can be prosecuted)..
