Legal Question in Family Law in Philippines

I have a 6 mos old son and he lives with his Mom. We are not married but my son carries my surname. The mother is asking me for support but is depriving me to see my son. Can I demand visitation rights in exchange for the support that she wants me to give? What are the basis that can prove that the mother is not fit to take care of my child? I really want to get sole custody of my son. Hope you can help me. Thank you!

Yes you are entitled to visitation rights. The instances of unsuitability of the mother are neglect, abandonment, unemployment and immorality, habitual drunkenness, drug addiction, maltreatment of the child, insanity, and affliction with a communicable illness. You can have the sole custody but you have to wrestle this in court. You cannot do this on your own unless you file a case in court for child custody.
