Legal Question in Family Law in Philippines
I am a US Citizen now living here in the Philippines since March 2009. I got married here in the Philippines in April 2009. In May 2010 we separated and now we both want an annulment. We have no children and we own no property. I have heard the annulment process is not only expensive but lengthy and not even guaranteed. I have heard that if I were to go back to the US and file for a divorce that in fact my wife could take the divorce decree to be petitioned in the courts so an annulment could be granted under your rules of the Family Code.
My question is this: When my wife has gotten the divorce decree and has an attorney that could help/assist in the filing of the petition: How long of a process will it take and the costs of the filing fees and attorneys fees total be?
I also want the annulment for the purpose of having the opportunity to re-marry here in the Philippines...and so does my wife.
Sincerely,
Warren Pique
