Legal Question in Family Law in Philippines
my girlfriend is from the philippines, and she paid a filipino lawyer some monies to file for her annulment almost a year ago, and she have only spoken to him 2 times and he never returns her calls or textes, i thought that he had some ethical responsibilty to at lease call her every now and then to give a update. i finally saw him on facebook and left him a message and some questions, i told him that my girlfriend has been calling him and that it would be nice if you were professional enough to return her calls, i understand that you are busy running for mayor of your town, but that doesnt excuse you from not following up with your client when they have paid you. the only thing that he has done was serve the husband and the husband sign and sent the papers back in. so now it has to reach the solisctor's office and it will move fast from there is what we were told. so the lawyer respones to me was that he dont want to be her lawyer anymore and that he said that he will return her monies. so my questions are: 1 is there any kind of compliant she can file against him for not fully resperenting her in the best of her interest? 2 now were do she go from here, do she have to start the process all over, or since the ball is in some what of motion can we hire a lawyer and pick up from there?
its almost been a year and to have to start over will hard but we love each other and will do what ever it takes to make it happen,
thanks

I suggest that you just concentrate on engaging another counsel to prosecute the annulment case and get the refund from that lawyer. You can email me and so I can assess how far the case went through. In that way I can give you the proper advise as to whether to start all over again or just continue what was started.
If you want to know more about how the process of annulment go through just visit the TELL ME ABOUT page of my website and here is the link http://philattorney.com/tell-me-about/annulment-in-the-philippines-philippine-law-firm-lawyers/
