Getting married without marriage license is valid? My friend got civil wedding in makati without getting a marriage license ( a pastor do the ceremony).The NSO issue them a marriage certificate it means their marriage was registered and valid? Thanks!

As a general rule marriage license is required. There are exceptions to the marriage license requirements. Such as those who cohabited for 5 years, marriages performed in articulo mortis (at the point of death) and those performed in remote places.Other than those instances you cannot marry without a valid marriage license. A VALID MARRIAGE LICENSE IS A FORMAL REQUISITES OF MARRIAGE. ABSENCE OF WHICH RENDERS THE MARRIAGE VOID.
