hello attorney im lea from philippines i would like to ask u what im a goin to do w/ my birth certificate bcoz of 2 letter in my middle initial are incorrect spelling, and the problem i encounter i cannot get a passport due to the problem in my birth certificate... i hope u would give me an advice thanks a lot

Hi Lea! If the mistake is just a clerical or typographical, all you need to do is visit the Local Civil Registrar that issued your birth certificate and inquire from them the steps you need to undertake to correct the information. In case the LCR rules that the mistake in your birth certificate is not clerical, then you would need a lawyer to assist you in court to file a petition for change of name.
