Help with getting back to Single Status
Hi there!
Three years ago ( July 2003), my Filipino fiancee (who lives in U.S.) and I got married here in the Philippines and had civil wedding. After three years, I have found out that our marriage was void/null because during the time that we got married, his annulment with his previous marriage (here in Phils) was not yet approved (I was not aware that he was married when we got married, all I knew is he has a child with the girl). We are not together now and had decided to live our separate lives. He is now a U.S. Citizen living in California and I am still here in the Philippines. I had already changed my status as married and would to know what are the things I need to file to the National Statistics Office to clear my status to Single again. I would like to get my passport as single status, I have an American boyfriend who will be petitioning me with Fiancee visa and would like to make sure there will be no problem with it. I would appreciate if you could give me the advice on what I need to do to clear my status back to SINGLE and to make sure the previous marriage certificate that was submitted from the municipality to NSO will be disregarded. Thank you so much and God bless!

Re: Help with getting back to Single Status
Your marriage is void for being a bigamous marriage. You must file a petition in court for declaration of nullity of your marriage.
