Legal Question in Immigration Law in Philippines
Overstay in the Philippines
Hello,
I have a friend who has overstayed in the Philippines for a couple of years. What can they do to fix their status and what options are available? He is planning to get married to a Filipina girl.
Thanks.

Re: Overstay in the Philippines
Your friend must pay the corresponding fines for overstaying in the Philippines. Thereafter, he would be required to leave the Philippines but he can come back. Once he is back, he can marry his Filipina fiancee and apply for permanent residency.

Thank you for your interest in our Firm. My name is Alexander Llanes Acain, Jr., Immigration Lawyer and Managing Partner of Guzman Tanedo & Acain Law Firm.
I suggest that we check the immigration status of your friend at the Bureau of Immigration just to make sure that he is not included in the blacklist. Please be informed that your friend is mostly likely a candidate for blacklisting because he has overstayed here for two years. We have to apply for the Lifting of his name in the Blacklist if your friend is unlucky.
If your friend is lucky, we can work out for the updating of his Tourist Visa plus payment of the penalties for overstaying.

Dear Sir/Madam,
There are numerous alternatives available to him including the extension of his visa with the payment of penalties corresponding to his years of overstay with the Philippine Bureau of Immigration. Btw, I am a senior partner at a law firm in the Phils. and has worked as lawyer for the Philippine Department of Foreign Affairs. You may visit our website at www. lawprofile.netfirms. com.
