my spouse had a fight with a stranger (punched his face) while having a drink with his co-workers. He got suspended for 4 days because of this. is this legal?

If he was found to have violated the company rules then there could be basis for the suspension. The company should first investigate on the alleged offense and involvement of your husband before suspending him.
