If you have been charged and proven to have violated an ordinance or special law requiring building permit and a penal sanction is provided there is a possibility that you can go to jai or only a fine be imposed law if proven guilty. However, you can find out with the building officials of the place having jurisdiction if you can administratively settle the issue involving your failure to secure a building permit.Don't worry it is the law who hears and render judgment after due process. Thus, it will take time before they can send you to jail.
