Legal Question in Elder Law in Puerto Rico

Legally responsible for parent?

If a parent of an adult person becomes mentally ill in old age casuing ''trouble'' to other people around (due to agressivness) would a child (in their 40s) be legally responsible for his/her parent, taking into consideration the fact he or she is aware of failing mental health of their parent?

Re: Legally responsible for parent?

No. There is no law in New York which makes a child responsible for their parent's support.

Good luck.
