Legal Question in Family Law in Puerto Rico

Child Vacation with Non Custodial Parent

Non-custodial parent wants to take 4 year old to visit his relatives in Puerto Rico. Just want to know if there is a letter or form that needs to be notarized, or some document to insure that he returns her home. Custodial parent cannot afford to pay a lawyer for this information. Can you advise?

Parent afraid non-custodial parent will not return child after visitation

If the non-custodial parent has sufficient assets or has someone who will pledge assets for them, then they can post a bond conditioned that if they do not return the child, the bond is payable to you. While this does not ensure that the child will be returned, neither will a notarized paper. A bond does have the advantage of making a lawyer think that if the lawyer gets involved in a case to return the child, that the lawyer will eventually be paid. This all assumes that you already have a court order awarding you custody and possession of the child. Written documentation of exactly what you are doing would, at least be better than nothing.
