Divorcing an Illegal Alien

I want to divorce an illegal alien. I moved to PR seven months ago, he lives in GA. He threatened me with taking/kidnapping our child away, I left shortly after that and now go to school. I just want this nightmare to be over. What is the best way to handle this situation?
