Would like to know for adopting purpose only is: If there is no father of baby names on birth certificate will that cause a problem with my future husband adopting him and what kind of process will it entail..

The baby's father walked out on us way before he was born and i was raising him myself.......Not sure if this makes a difference baby was born in puerto rico

The adoption law that will control will depend on the conflict of laws statute applicable to the state in which such relief will be sought. Precedent conditions are required by local law to file for adoption in Puerto Rico. The procedure is quite technical and involves judicial and administrative proceedings.

If a change on the child's birth certificate in Puerto Rico is interested an exequatur proceeding must be performed, if the jugdment or orde is from abroad. Reasonable dilligence of notfying the father of the adoption proceeding or the whole effort could be void. You have to notify copy of all of the above proceedings to the Minor's Attorney of the Department of Family.
