Legal Question in Business Law in Rhode Island

A Companies legal liability

If a company/organization sets up a memorial fund on behalf of one of its employees/members and this member has commited suicide, is the company/organization liable if another employee/member follows this same path and commits suicide?

On the one hand, Rudy Giuliani was quoted as saying, when he was the US Attorney for NY, "If I want to, I can indict a cock-roach." Even if inauthentic, you get the point; in civil litigation, there is nothing to prevent commencement of litigation of even the most absurd causes of action.

That said, the facts as you present them do not add up to an actionable wrong under any theory that I know of.

Best wishes,

Based on the bare facts in the question: No.

Simply memorializing a former employee is not grounds for liability.
