Legal Question in Business Law in Rhode Island

Padlock a business-Selling your inventory and harrassment

My landlord padlocked my warehouse-owed two months-

refused to let me sell to pay him-sold some inventory

pocketed the money-harrassed me-had two of my personal vehicles towed and junked-turned away a customer who wanted to buy a part-took me to court

after months of being padlocked-for eviction-and

asked for back rent of $1800(original 200 ,month }

when I got to court his lawyer asked if we could settle by me moving out-in 30 days-no back rent required-this put my loss at over $30,000.00 and

put me out of business-can I sue-? no court padlock order.

Yes you can sue. However,if the lease you had with the landlord allowed for a landlord lien against personal property for the payment of rent it may be difficult to recvoer damages. I would need more facts and to see a copy of the lease as well as any documents which the landlord's attorney may have given you to sign.
