Legal Question in Consumer Law in Rhode Island
I sold a used propane furnace to a guy by the name of Jay. I started the furnace up to shoy him that it did work, and ran the furnace for about 20 mins. I sold the furnace to him, i didn't make a bill of sale and he paid me in cash. I recommened to him to have a propane company install the furnace. but he tried to install the furnace himself. He called me the next day and stated the unit will not run and he wants his money back..he claiams the furnace was defective. Then he stated he will sue me in small claims court. what legal actions does he have agains me ?

He wcould claim that you sold him a defective peice of equipment. You could claim that the equipment worked and you showed him how to use it and in doing so, demonstrated that it worked. That if there is a problem with the equipment, it happened because of something he did to it.
