Legal Question in Discrimination Law in Rhode Island

Possible Consumer Discrimination

My sister went into a Dunkin Donuts and was helped by an employee that speaks spanish. My sister began to order and speak to the employee in spanish because she feels more confortable speaking spanish. Then the owner of the dunkin donuts came out from inside his office and directly said to my sister and the employee ''English only please, no other languages.'' I think this is wrong and was wondering if this can be considered consumer descrimination?

Re: Possible Consumer Discrimination

While rude and innappropriate, I do not believe this incident rises to the level of discrimination. If the manager, however, refused to serve your sister or asked her to leave, that could rise to a violation of her civil rights.
